Description
This lovely plant won the prestigious RHS Award of Garden Merit. The State Series ( or Swan Series as it is known in North America) is the product of many years of hybridisation, which is known for its very large flowers. This plant is a very good garden performer , which produces flowers in abundance, very large pure white flowers, which are held above a mound of lacy fern like leaves, and appear to float in the evening light. It has multiple stems which are uniform and abundant, and makes a good garden cut flower. It blooms in late spring and summer. It makes an excellent container plant.
It likes full sun but will tolerate partial shade.
Sowing advice
Sow in mid – late winter, spring and early summer, late summer and autumn. Sow in trays or pots. Cover the seeds very lightly with seed raising mix and keep moist. Propagate at 20 deg C . Keep in cooler conditions at 14- 18 deg C after germination occurs.
