This plant has white which are star-shaped.Can tolerate more moisture than most other bulbous plants.
Robust 60cm stems emerge from mounds which are like grass , with many 7cm star shaped white blooms in spring to early summer. This plant Will produce a small amount of progeny if it is sited in a wet spring site with at least a half day of sunshine. It occurs in wet to moist meadows and ditches in when in its native situation . It makes an excellent cut flower, which is in its element in rain gardens, at the pond edge, and in the seasonal bog. It likes fertile acidic soil
- Sowing guidance
Sow seed thinly 1mm deep into moist, well-drained seed compost. Ideal temp. 4-15°C. Be patient as they have their own agenda and often will only germinate in the spring after chilling or freezing in the moist seed tray in the winter. Germination takes 1-6 months.
