Description
Camassia ssp suksdorfii picture thanks to Jelitto Seeds https://www.jelitto.com
Camassia ssp suksdorfii has mostly sky blue flowers which are star-shaped and very attractive . It can tolerate more moisture than most other bulbous plants.
This plant has strong stems with many 7cm star shaped lavender blue blooms in spring to early summer. It will produce a small amount of progeny if you site it in a wet spring site with at least a half day of sunshine. It occurs in wet to moist meadows and ditches when in its native situation , and so if you can plant it in these conditions it will do well for you. Camassia makes an excellent cut flower, which is in its element in rain gardens, at the pond edge, and in the seasonal bog. It likes fertile acidic soil, and is very hardy.

Sowing guidance
Sow the seed thinly 1mm deep into moist, well-drained seed compost. Ideal temperature is 4-15°C. Be patient as they have their own agenda and often will only germinate in the spring after chilling or freezing in the moist seed tray in the winter. Germination takes 1-6 months.
