This plant has very attractive heart shaped leaves and in the second year from seed it sends up very handsome towers of bell shaped flowers. This mixture has flowers in blue and white shades. It is a biennial. It sets seed in the second year after flowering and you will get small seedlings growing around the parent plant, which then dies down. It is an excellent cut flower.
Sowing advice
Sow in trays or pots. Press the seeds into the soil lightly. Don’t cover as light is needed for germination. Keep at 20 deg C. If the seeds do not come up within 6 to 12 weeks , seal the damp seed tray in a plastic bag and place in a fridge for about 4 weeks. They may still take very many months to appear, so do not discard the pot or tray.
