This is a mixture of very striking colours. They range from sizzling hot pink to dark burgundy, red, orange, yellow, white, green, and every bright combination you could think of . The plants are tall , sometimes reaching about 2.2 m.
The seed heads make wonderful fillers for bouquets and they are excellent cut flowers , as well as being striking in the border , and of course the seed is edible.
Sowing advice
Sow the seeds in good seed raising mix 4 to 6 weeks before last frost; Cover the seeds with about 5mm of mix. Temp approx 18-20 deg C for good germination. Keep them moist . Seeds should appear in 4-10 days.
They can also be sown direct when soil temperatures are at about 10 deg C or more.
