Chenopodium quinoa ‘Brilliant Shining Rainbow’ seeds – ( Quinoa)

This mix is a combination of some of the best quinoa seeds from our supplier  .  It contains Magenta Sunset a selection made with the cut flower grower in mind. The ripening panicles are brilliant magenta-orange, with stems that become red-pink-orange striped as they mature. Also in the mix is ‘Ivory’ selected for resistance to downy mildew and head sprouting, better stem strength, and white seed color. White panicles help prevent seed staining from rain at maturity. Also included is ‘Golden Afternoon’ which is a new variety. Seeds are a sunny yellow fresh from the plant, and have good resistance to head sprouting in trials for 2 years running. The last inclusion is ‘Pink Nugget’ which has rounded  pink seed clusters that form a large head.

Sowing advice

Sow indoors 4-6 weeks before the last frost in pots or trays or after the last frost direct where they are to grow.
Sow 6mm deep into pots or  a well prepared seedbed. Germination takes 4-10 days at 18-20°C.
Direct: Sow when temps are above 10 °C. Prepare the beds well and finely rake the soil. Cover the seed with about 6mm of soil.
