Cistanthe grandiflora is a very attractive succulent from Chile. It is a hardy perennial withstanding temperatures down to -6 deg C. It forms compact grey green clumps of leaves approx 30cm tall from which arise beautiful neon magenta coloured flowers which resemble fragile poppies on long stems approx 90cm tall. The plant flowers from spring to autumn. It can withstand drought very well , needing only occasional watering.

Seed growing advice
Plant the seed on moist seed raising mix in pots or trays. Sprinkle very lightly with mix . Cover with plastic film or glass to conserve moisture. Ideal temp is about 20 deg C . Seeds should germinate in about 5- 10 days. Remove the cover as soon as the first seed germinates.
