These plants are short and compact about 35 cm high . They suit containers and the front of the border and small beds. The flowers are very dark velvety red, which appear almost black. They like a warm sunny position, and will flower right through summer and into autumn. It flowers in the first year from seed if sown in early spring under cover. It will take about 3 months from germination to flower.
Sowing advice
Sow in spring and summer in pots or trays. Sow the seeds onto moist seed raising mix. Cover them finely with mix and keep moist but not waterlogged.Ideal tem is 21 deg C.germination in approz 7-12 days. Pot them up into lager containers when they have 2 true leaves.
