This dianthus is an easy care plant for hot sunny spots and will tolerate poorer soil. It flowers profusely looking rather like a cherry red carpet with its many small flowers. It forms a low slow-spreading mat and can be trimmed back lightly after the first flush of spring flowers to encourage further flowering during summer. It makes an excellent container plant.

Sow onto the surface of moist seed raising mix.in pots or trays. Cover very lightly with seed mix, as light aids germination. Keep moist but not wet and at approx 15-20 deg C. germination takes 2-3 weeks.
