This is a very sought after cross of Echium pininiana and echium wildpretii, made by World Plant Gardens. The flower spire grows to approx 3-4 m high and is covered with pale pink flowers which act like a beacon for bees and other beneficial insects. These seeds were produced by open pollination, so they may not all be pink flowering, though many should be.
Sowing advice
Sow seeds at any time in trays or pots.
Sow in moist well-drained seed raising mix. Cover lightly with mix. Ideal temp. 12-20°C. Germination takes 2-6 weeks. When seedlings are large enough to handle transplan to 8cm pots , before planting out in a well-drained, sheltered spot or a large container that may be taken in during the winter in colder areas .
