Description
Gladiolus illyricus picture thanks to Jelitto seeds https://www.jelitto.com
There are approx 5-7 small plants to an 8cm pot .
This beautiful little miniature treasure , which grows to a maximum of 40cm has short stems which bear showy, large, pinkish, lilac or magenta flowers, with sometimes , white streaks on the lower petals.
Gladiolus illyricus will grow easily in any rich, well drained soil in full sun, and can also be grown in pots. It is ideal for small gardens where it doesn’t take up very much room, and flowers reliably every late spring to early summer. Of course if you have a large garden , I know you will also have a reserved, special plants garden for treasured items , so put it in there and it will reward you also with its pretty form and flowers.
This hardy dwarf species, which is native to South and west Europe and the Mediterranean region, grows in the wild in rocky, sun-exposed sites and heaths, in scrub and open woods. It flowers in spring to early summer, and makes and excellent cut flower
We also have seeds of this plant sometimes . See our G section https://www.owairakaseeds.co.nz/product-category/g-flower-names-starting-with-g/
