Liatris spicata ‘Floristan White’ seeds – (Blazing Star, Gayfeather)

Description

This plant is grown as a commercial cut flower, as it lasts well in the vase. Plants form a low clump of grassy looking leaves, bearing tall spikes of white flowers in summer. It is an easy care plant and is a good container plant, being drought tolerant. It makes a great sunny border plant or meadow garden as well and is attractive to butterflies. Plants may need to be staked if you live in a windy area. Consider combining it with the purple forms, for an eye-catching display in the border.

Sowing advice
Sow the seeds indoors spring in trays or pots, onto moist seed raising mix, and cover very thinly as they require light to germinate. Keep the soil moist ( not wet) while germination occurs and cover with a sheet of glass or plastic to conserve moisture. Ideal temp 21 deg during the day and 15 deg C at nights for 3 weeks. Place the seed tray in a semi shaded area. Germination takes 10-25 days. After germination keep in cooler conditions
