This silene has very attractive unusually shaped red fringed flowers, and makes a lovely cottage garden plant . The flowers are produced abundantly over a long time. It makes a very good container plant, and also an excellent garden plant. It forms a low mat of leaves which spreads slowly, and from this mound the strange notched and fringed red flowers rise to approx 50cm.
Sowing advice
Sow the seeds on the surface of moist seed raising mix . Dont cover them as light is required for germination. Place in a light position, but not in direct sunlight. propagate at about 20 -22 deg C. keep the soil moist , by watering from the bootom of the pot . Seeds should germinate in 10 -14 days.
