Thalictrum aquilegifolium ‘Fluffy’ – (French Meadow Rue)

$5.00

This beautiful plant is  a showstopper for the border with its fluffy lavender pink clouds of flowers.

Description

This plant has soft  pink clouds of flowers  which appear  above lovely  blue-green, aquilegia-like foliage. These  plants make beautiful and  dramatic accents in a border, and they flower  all season. Branching stems hold large heads of countless, fluffy, rich rosy lilac powder puff flowers, over delicate sprays of maidenhair-like foliage. This plant prefers cool places in semi shade, ideally a deep soil. In full sun requires more moisture. In exposed areas may require staking.

Cut down stems once flowering is over, and divide plant every 2-3 years as soon as growth begins in spring, so that the plant rejuvenates.

Sowing advice

Sow indoors in spring and autumn. Sow in trays or pots onto moist well-drained seed raising mix. Just cover the seed with vermiculite or soil. Ideal temp. 13-16°C. Keep soil moist but not wet at all times. Germination takes 15-21 days. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle to 8cm pots. Gradually acclimatise and plant out after 10-15 days with 45cm spacing.
